Clothes, no beauty and beauty, trash and no trash
The Cuban-born artist duo Guerro De La Paz have created a series of sculptural art works out of discarded, recycled clothing. These figures are made from t-shirts, shoes, boots, socks and more, many of which have been dug out of secondhand stores in Little Haiti, Miami. The message Guerro De La Paz conveys with their recycled clothing art is about the consume-and-discard nature of our...

Who are the beautiful people?
Beautiful people inspire us.
IRead Faces, by Cristian Radu (in this photo Sabina Alexandra)
Given the following hypothesis:
One understand beauty so subjectively and so widely;
Studies show that parents are less likely to be annoyed by the bad things that beautiful children do;
It’s not what you look at, it’s what you see;
Within contemporary art, the concept of beauty...

The beauty that lives in creativity
I explained what creativity means to me in this post I wrote on Fashionurbia. As of beauty, perhaps I’ve already stated, I strongly believe it is a very subjective matter.
While surfing the web, I stumbled upon these samples of that kind of beauty that, in my opinion, lives in creativity:

The beauty of Dada
Today I played the virtual piano. Each of its keys corresponds to a letter or a number from the computer keyboard. So, I decided to play a poem on it. For fun.
Here’s the result. A little bit psychotic.
Then it occurred to me that the music I came up with resembles to the way Dada poems were made.
Victor Brauner - Le ver luisant, 1933 Dada, an avantgarde movement of the twentieth...

How thin is the line that separates beauty from...
I stumbled upon these photos today. They made me think once again about beauty and war. Actually about how thin is the border between them.
These are signs of beauty and acceptance in Mursi tribe, Ethiopia.

This is what a woman has to endure in order to get to this kind of beauty. I call it declaring war to yourself.

The image as a trigger for an idea
Just looking at an image and ignoring what it explicitly says, can trigger a metaphor that can lead you to a surprising space.
This is what happened to me today. I stumbled upon an image.
Photo by Craig McDean Then the following 10 things happened in the next 5 minutes: 1. I thought: “This image is eye-catching.” 2. I stared at the image for 5 seconds. 3. The first word that came...

Why do people create and consume art?
These days I broadcast a question that seemed to come randomly into my head. It’s the question from the title.
I’ve got some interesting answers so far:
“It’s a way to communicate beyond spoken language, and the conscious mind.”
“A release.”
“Why does one dream? Art is a stimulant we all are able and ready to make, when we dream it is...

The deaf frog parable
Here is a very famous story that I found today and I would like to share it with you. A number of frogs were travelling through the woods. Two of them fell into a deep pit. All the other frogs gathered around the pit. When they saw how deep the pit was, they told the two frogs that they were as good as dead.

What does it mean to redesign your future?
The default future is a concept proposed by Steve Zaffron and Dave Logan in their book: The Three Laws of Performance. This is the future that each of us privately fear or hope for. It is not a fantasy we don’t believe in, but it’s something that seems like the truth about us and our future. For example, in a down economy, the default future for most of us is “spend less, work...

While reading Iulia’s interview with Kathryn Elyse Rodgers, a fashion illustrator whose works I love, I stumbled upon this question: “What are the most challenging aspects of your job?” Kathryn’s answer was not surprising for me so as, I believe, any artist has the same problem - the lack of time: Illustration wise, is keeping up with everything since I have to do it all...

To my narcissist friends
I inserted in this post a beautiful story, told by Elisabeth Gilbert during her 18 minute speech at TED, in February 2009. While listening to it, something familiar triggered in my mind. I am one of those believing that credits on creative genius should be taken by the person who has delivered to our society a piece of work, although, I do believe that that there’s a universal energy trend...

Beauty over war
I don’t know how many of those who stopped by, asked themselves about the meaning of this blog’s title, but at least one person and I needed to read/write a post that would explain it.
First of all I have to say I like diversity, I like new, I like change and I like exploring, and experiencing. That is, I am going to write on different themes. So, trying to find a suitable title that...
You can dominate the world through greatness
… You don’t need to start a war.
“If you want it badly enough, and are willing to make some changes in your life to cause it to happen, you too can take over the world… or do anything else you really want to do. Yes, you really can have it all. The only things you’ll need to give up are assumptions, expectations, and the comfort zone that holds you back from greatness.”

The amazing sense of knowing what you want
Disclosure: I wrote this post for Trigwee blog
The other day, while talking to a friend, I suddenly had this amazing sense of knowing what I want. It felt so gooood. It was just like a prize you aim for so long and you finally get it.
It’s not only about knowing what you want. It’s about naturally, effortless, “built-in” knowing what you want.
How do you recognize this feeling? A random idea...

Q: Who truly dreams?
A: Confident people.
Me: Are women dreaming of beauty?
My inner voice: Yes. Women dream of beauty inside and outside them. To be beautiful inside means to be healthy, intelligent and spiritually rich. To be beautiful outside means to have glowing eyes, a tasty smile, a captivating style. Beauty is the effect of dream, love and confidence.
